Kabelvåg, Henningsvær and Havern-ish

Packed up from the Robuer in the morning, and headed into town in search of a coffee. The man at the front desk had suggested a couple of places near the square might open at nine, in twenty minutes. Since the drive into town lasts three minutes, that gave us time for some sight-seeing before coffee. Coffee was OK, but the pastries fresh from the oven were very good.

Then on to Kabelvåg, first stopping at the large wooden cathedral, the largest in these parts, and a look around the old (medieval?) villiage. Very calm and pretty.

Since we were only an hour’s drive from our overnight accommodation, according to the map, and we had all day to get there, we detoured via Henningsvær, a connected group of tiny rock islands right down the southern end of Austvagoy Island. We lucked onto a picnick table on a pier, as we were a little ahead of the crowds, and made our lunch. The usual, now, of smorbrod with smoked salmon, and beer. Hard life, I know. Packed up and explored the town centre on foot for a while, then another coffee stop, then off to meet the landlord for the house at 3PM. Made it exactly on time.

Quiet evening, with an after-dinner walk.

Writing this up while trying to feel sleepy: it’s still light outside, at ten past ten. We’re well north now.
