Today’s adventure, metro, bus and cable car up to the castle on top of Montjuic almost didn’t happen. It was overcast, actually drizzling as we headed out. We pressed on, but when we got to the metro platform, the notice board informed us that the funicular was out of service, too. Was there any point going on? Well we did, probably mostly inertia, and the fact that we had already spent or rail fare. A bus service replaced the funicular. The cable car was running, at least. They’re always fun. As we approached the top, the rain definitely seemed to be lifting. By the time we reached the battlements, our umbrellas were away, cameras out, because the view was amazing. So glad we went!
Swung past the markets on the way back, for some more pork chops, porcini mushrooms and green beans, which Cath made up for lunch. Fantastic.
Went out for a bite of tapas and to see the Picasso museum this evening. Foi with chestnuts and beans (in chestnut sauce) was a revelation. Fantastic. Museum too hot.
All packed for tomorrow: traveling to Paris on an early TGV. Must sleep now.
