Plane to Singapore, plane to London, bus to Terminal 5 Heathrow, (bonus bag searches for both of us at security made us wonder if we’d make our connection, but we did) plane to BER, FEX (fast) train to just outside town (thanks to the nice lady who helped us buy tickets quickly as the train was arriving), then find the U-bahnhoff (subway) station and four stops to the street of our hotel. No escalator or lift at this stop: so schlep all the luggage up stairs to street level.
Checked in, but room isn’t ready for us yet: they’ll email when it is.
We’ve decamped to the tapas bar on the 7th floor with the view of the city, and Cath’s found me a nice refreshing pale ale to try the hotel WiFi.
Unfortunately the Hotel Wifi is executing a man-in-the-middle attack with a certificate-rewriting proxy server that I have no intention of approving, so we’re currently leaning (quite heavily) on Telstra’s international roaming data service through my phone. I will be writing a grumpy review when the time comes.
The weather doesn’t seem to be as bad as predicted: yes it’s overcast, but the clouds are pretty high at the moment and it isn’t raining. Visibility is excellent from here in the bar.
I’ll add a photo once I’ve got the workflow and card readers sorted out.
